Yesterday, Viking Cruises revealed plans to introduce 10 Longships to its river fleet in the upcoming years.
The demand for European River Voyages is growing. Eight of the forthcoming vessels will navigate Viking’s sought-after routes along the Main, Danube, and Rhine rivers. The remaining two Longships will join the fleet on the Seine River.
The comprehensive order also appointed a longship designated for the Seine River, previously announced in February 2023.
The delivery schedule entails five new vessels arriving in 2025, with the remaining five set for delivery in 2026. A keel-laying ceremony, signifying the official commencement of construction for all ten ships, took place yesterday at Neptune Werft shipyard in Rostock, Germany. This shipyard has been the birthplace of all Viking Longships since their introduction in 2012.
“Ever since we started Viking 26 years ago, our mission has been to help our guests explore the world in comfort. We focus on the destination, and we build elegant, innovative ships,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking.
“We look forward to welcoming these new Longships to our European fleet and introducing The Viking Way of exploration to even more guests in the coming years.”
