Do something different this festive season – enjoy a Christmas themed cruise aboard American Queen.
The American Queen Steamboat Company has crafted several voyages – starting from 21 November – that will travel the waters of the Mississippi River to and from Memphis and New Orleans. A voyage filled with southern history and culture is promised, along with some festive additions, of course.
I thought it would be nice to highlight these sailings as we are usually tempted by exotic far-away lands or by the promise of a European Christmas market, but these voyages really are something a little extraordinary.
All of the sailings are new and exclusive to the American Queen and each has an old fashioned theme with special entertainment, including strolling carolers in St. Francisville, Louisiana, departure serenades from the levees of Vicksburg and Natchez, Mississippi, and the favourite Steamboat Syncopators singing holiday favourites throughout the journey as well as Christmas markets in Greenville, Mississippi and Nottoway Plantation.
