Port Lockroy Cruises

PORT LOCKROY – This was one of the anchorages of Jean Charcot's "Francais" during his 1903-05 expedition and was also the site of a secret British station established by Churchill during World War II and abandoned after the war. Now, it lies in the midst of a huge gentoo penguin colony and a nearby shag rookery. The approach, via the Peltier or Neumayer Channels, is awe-inspiring, with high, glistening glaciers on every side.
