Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 is the world’s only true ocean liner and encompassed in her graceful lines are fifteen restaurants and bars, five swimming pools, a full-sized theatre, a casino, and a world famous Canyon Ranch SpaClub®. She has the largest dance floor at sea in the Queens Room, a 3D cinema, a planetarium – the only one at sea – and is the home of the Cunard Insights programme. She is currently undergoing an extensive, multi-million pound refurbishment – one of the biggest refurbishments a ship has ever seen – and will return to the high seas in just a few days with a completely transformed interior. These are just some of the things that guests can expect from the newly remastered Queen Mary 2.
Queen Mary 2 Staterooms
Queen Mary 2’s refit will introduce 15 new Single staterooms and will offer guests a more elegant, modern stateroom experience. Fresh design schemes and fine details pay tribute to the original Queen Mary’s iconic art deco heritage while keeping this grand ocean-liner at the forefront of luxury. With further growing trends for those booking Balcony staterooms and those wishing to have more flexibility in their dining arrangements, 30 additional Britannia Club Balcony staterooms have also been added and guests in these staterooms will benefit from the flexible dining times offered by the dedicated and expanded Britannia Club restaurant. The pre-existing Britannia Club Balcony staterooms have also been refurbished.
Queen Mary 2 Queens Grill and Princess Grill
Queens Grill and Princess Grill guests are in for a treat as all 172 of the Grills suites have been extensively refurbished. The bedroom and living spaces have been redesigned to reveal a fresh new look and reconfigured to maximise space. New bespoke luxury carpet throughout features design work inspired by rugs from the original Queen Mary. Guests will also find bespoke architectural motifs that showcase the beauty, history and magnitude of iconic Cunard buildings around the world.
The Grill restaurants have both been reconfigured and redesigned to offer more sought after tables for two, an increased space between the tables has been provided by the moving of waiter stations away from the central dining areas. The décor and furnishings encompass beautiful and elegant dining rooms which complement the enticing menus and excellent White Star Service that Cunard is renowned for.
Queen Mary 2 Carinthia Lounge
Queen Mary 2’s Winter Garden is transformed into an elegant, airy and versatile new venue, named after Cunard’s beloved Carinthia ships. A tranquil retreat by day, the serene lounge provides the perfect place to relax and catch up with friends, as well as enjoy light breakfast and lunch dishes. The new venue also features a dedicated patisserie counter. When the sun sets, the atmosphere evolves into an inviting evening retreat offering the pairing of premium wines with complimentary tasting plates.
Queen Mary 2 Kings Court Buffet
Kings Court has been completely transformed and now offers a more open, intuitive central buffet area and reconfigured seating arrangements to create a relaxed self-service experience. Cunard chefs will take centre stage in Kings Court as they guide guests through cooking demonstrations that highlight the remastered menus and the fresh, high quality ingredients used on board. Kings Court offers informal dining options throughout the day; from enticing hot and cold buffet options to light snacks, afternoon treats and alternative evening dining cuisines such as Indian, Italian, Pan Asian and American Smokehouse.
The popular Chef’s Galley area, serving Italian pastas and pizzas for lunch, will also offer a Chef’s Table tasting menu on select evenings. Hosted by the Executive Chef, the Chef’s Table will offer guests the opportunity to hear insights and recipe tips while enjoying a tasting menu expertly paired with fine wines.
Queen Mary 2 The Verandah
In the golden days of cruising, the Verandah Grills were reserved for First Class guests and offered an exclusive experience, as well as privacy for the rich and famous. The Verandah is already popular on Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, and the debut of this new signature restaurant onboard Queen Mary 2 (which replaces the Todd English restaurant) is certainly a welcome treat. In keeping with the original Verandah Grills, Queen Mary 2’s Verandah will offer exquisite cuisine, contemporary design and impeccable service. However, unlike her early predecessors this elegant, fine dining alternative is now available to all guests onboard at an additional cost.
