Discover the world under billowing sails on a voyage to Europe, the Caribbean, and beyond with Sea Cloud Cruises.
Founded on over 40 years of experience, Sea Cloud Cruises invites you to set sail for a range of destinations worldwide aboard one of three eye-catching windjammers. Since 1979, the award-winning operator has delighted guests with its approach to small-ship cruising, combining interesting, one-of-a-kind itineraries with an unhurried, relaxed onboard environment.
Aboard your chosen vessel, you’ll stay in luxuriously appointed accommodation and enjoy world-class service and an array of delectable dining experiences. During the day, you can relax on the open decks or head off for destination-rich adventures ashore. When the sun sets, swap stories with fellow guests in the ship’s top deck bar, or find a quiet spot and take in moonlit ocean vistas as your yacht cuts a path through the waves, bound for the next destination.
Regarding suitability, Sea Cloud caters excellently to both experienced ocean travellers and those looking to enjoy a maiden voyage on the high seas. Whether you’re looking to indulge your thirst for maritime adventure or simply seeking an alternative to big-ship cruising, Sea Cloud promises to take you on an unforgettable journey before returning you with enough stories to last a lifetime.
Sea Cloud’s Yachts
Sea Cloud’s three windjammers are among some of the most distinctive vessels at sea. Offering capacity for between 64 and 136 guests, the ships provide ample space and facilities for all guests. The crew on Sea Cloud’s yachts are called ‘sailors’, but this isn’t just for show. On the contrary, the sailors play a very active role throughout each cruise, with sails set by hand, adding to the romance of the overall experience. Few holiday types can compare to cruising aboard a tall ship with the sails billowing in the breeze.
The line’s most well-known windjammer is Sea Cloud, which dates back to 1931 and has had a storied history that includes everything from performing coastal patrols for the US Navy to acting as a houseboat for the ruler of the Dominican Republic. In 2001, Sea Cloud Cruises added a second ship to help meet growing demands. Sea Cloud II took on many of the characteristics of her predecessor, albeit with more accommodation, four decks (three of which are continuous) and a reimagined dining venue.
Finally, twenty years later, Sea Cloud Cruises’ fleet was completed with the arrival of Sea Cloud Spirit, which moulds the classic sailing sensibilities of the previous yachts with a modern twist. Sea Cloud Spirit boasts a second dining venue and a fully equipped, up-to-date fitness centre.
Sea Cloud Itineraries
On a Sea Cloud cruise, no itinerary is set in stone. Instead, the Captain will call upon his seafaring knowledge to guide the ship wherever the wind chooses. This flexible approach adds an exciting element to the experience. In Europe, visit the history-laden cities of Northern Europe or explore the picturesque ports and harbours of the Mediterranean and Canary Islands.
In winter, the Caribbean islands await, while Central America’s dense jungles and winding waterways are always intriguing to those wanting a tropical adventure. Alternatively, why not embark on an iconic transatlantic crossing from Gran Canaria to St. Maarten? Powered by the northeast trade winds, these itineraries bring echoes of cruising’s golden years and are ideal for those longing for lazy days at sea.
The destination-led immersion doesn’t end when you step back aboard; the onboard experience is also tailored to your itinerary so that you can look forward to cuisine and wine that match your sailing route.
