About Rocky Mountaineer
Voted by the readers of National Geographic as one of the ‘World’s Greatest Trips’, the Rocky Mountaineer is a journey unlike any other. Travel in daylight through one of the world’s most majestic landscapes; over plunging gorges, expansive waterways and snow-capped mountain passes aboard a luxurious custom-built train offering 5-star service and gourmet cuisine.
Upon arrival in each town on your trip, you’ll be free to enjoy the local sights at your leisure as well as enjoy specially planned tours and sightseeing excursions, such as helicopter tours and guided tours through the Canadian wilderness.
In the evening, you will retire to a luxury hotel to prepare for the following days’ adventures. You won’t even need to worry about your luggage – it will be waiting for you in your room when you arrive.
Rocky Mountaineer Routes & Itineraries
There are Rocky Mountaineer journeys available to fit in with almost any cruise schedule, and they can be added either before or after your voyage. There are three primary routes, all of which can be experienced in full, or as part of a shortened itinerary.
First Passage to the West
We recommend this iconic Rocky Mountaineer journey if you have never visited the Canadian Rockies before. Travelling between Vancouver and Banff, you will wind through dramatic mountain passes, over gaping canyons and through the legendary spiral tunnels.
Journey Through the Clouds
This spectacular itinerary allows you to experience all the highlights of the Canadian Rockies in a relatively short space of time. Travelling from Vancouver to Jasper (or in reverse), the route includes Pyramid Falls, Hell’s Gate and also passes by the highest peak in the Rockies, Mount Robson.
Rainforest to Goldrush
Board Rocky Mountain on a trip from Vancouver to Jasper (or in reverse), stopping at Quesnel and the breathtaking mountain town of Whistler. Remnants of the Gold Rush era still loom large in these parts, while the sights witnessed as the train cuts through the rugged terrain are guaranteed to thrill.
Rocky Mountaineer Service
There are two types of service available onboard Rocky Mountaineer – Silver Leaf Service and Gold Leaf Service. The service level you choose will define your dining options and the size of your outdoor viewing area. It will also have a bearing on the hotels you stay in throughout your journey.
The main differences between the two service levels are as follows:
Silver Leaf Service
- Allocated seating on a single-level
- Breakfast and lunch served at your seat
- Two service hosts and one member of the culinary team
- A small outdoor viewing platform
Gold Leaf Service
- Allocated seating on one level, dining on the level below
- Gourmet à la carte meals served in the dining room
- 3-4 service hosts and a full culinary team
- A large outdoor viewing platform
Regardless of the service level you choose, all guests enjoy complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and enjoy talks from engaging hosts about historic sites and wildlife.
