The Caribbean is one of the most popular cruise regions in the world and there are ships that sail there virtually all year round, but when is the BEST time to cruise the Caribbean?
We would say that the best time to cruise the Caribbean is between the months of November and March. Typically, these months offer the best temperatures, less prolonged rain and usually, no hurricanes! In short, this is peak Caribbean season and with that comes a whole array of exciting itineraries across virtually all cruise lines.
The rainy season (and hurricane season) in the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Bahamas is usually between June and November. Prices during this time are usually cheaper, however, should you choose to cruise during hurricane season, then you must expect the risks that come with it: port alterations or even cancellations. We’re not saying that cruising during this time will be a complete wash-out, you may cruise in August and not see a single drop of liquid sunshine, but it’s always best to have the right, honest advice.
Things To Do In The Caribbean
Once you have decided on your itinerary, it’s time to start thinking about what you can do ashore and the Caribbean has a never ending array of options – we mean that quite literally.
These are just some of the things you can do on a Caribbean cruise, but they do vary per port: Beach days, 4×4 safari rides, zip-lining, white-water rafting, visits to historical sites, shopping, bar hop tours, submarine rides, swimming with stingrays or dolphins, sailboat charter, diving, horseback riding, rainforest tram rides and so much more.
Every cruise line will offer a wide selection of things you can do ashore and some cruise lines, like Regent Seven Seas Cruises, include all of their shore excursions in the cost of your cruise, so all you have to do is sit back and decide which ones you want to do.
If you would like the option of exploring ashore alone or with a third-party shore excursions company, then we highly recommend Cruising Excursions. We’ve been working with this company for many years now and they offer over 12,000 tours in more than 700 ports of call around the world. They also cover just about every cruise line on the planet! They also offered tailor made and private tours, ideal if you would prefer to avoid a group.
Caribbean Cruises
We currently have over 700 itineraries available across more than 20 different cruise lines and you can view them all on our website by clicking here.
For sheer indulgence, enjoy the holiday of a lifetime on one of our luxury Caribbean cruises. We have six-star sailings with the likes of Regent Seven Seas, Silversea and Seabourn Cruises, and they each offer all-inclusive voyages.
Luxury cruise ships are often somewhat smaller than many of the vessels that visit the Caribbean, so you’ll find that these cruise lines offer itineraries that visit seldom-seen ports of call and hidden islands that are largely inaccessible to bigger ships. For example, SeaDream Yacht Club often features the islands of St Barts and Anguilla on selected voyages, whilst Oceania Cruises visit stunning Santo Tomas in Guatemala, a lush island steeped in Mayan history.
Wherever you want to go in the Caribbean, we have you covered!
