530MS Roald Amundsen is one the newest ships in Hurtigruten fleet. A custom-built expedition vessel, she has been designed to navigate the icy waters of Antarctica and the Chilean Fjords with ease. She offers capacity for 530 guests and provides a comfortable basecamp from which to explore the world’s most remote regions.
She is a named after Roald Engelbregt Granving Amundsen, a Norwegian explorer who led an Antarctic expedition in the early 1900s and was the first explorer to reach the South Pole, finally arriving at his destination in 1911.
MS Roald Amundsen Accommodation
MS Roald Amundsen offers a total of 265 berths for the 530 guests onboard. Many of the staterooms have ocean views and range from Polar Outside staterooms to spacious Expedition Suites, which boast an upper mid-deck position and come equipped with large windows, flexible sleeping arrangements and a separate sitting room.
All of the accommodation options onboard MS Roald Amundsen are spacious and will provide you with all of the homely comforts you would expect to find on a new-build expedition ship, including en suite bathrooms, DVD/TV players and a minibar as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

All of the accommodation options onboard MS Roald Amundsen are spacious and will provide you with all of the homely comforts you would expect to find on a new-build expedition ship, including en suite bathrooms, DVD/TV players and a minibar as well as tea and coffee making facilities.
The ship’s primary dining venue is T. Aune. Here, guests can enjoy buffet-style breakfast and lunch on an open-seating basis. Dinner in the evenings is either seated service or buffet-style, depending on the ship’s capacity. Food is also served in two smaller restaurants, Lindstrom and Fredheim, both of which offer light bites and snacks.
The facilities onboard MS Roald Amundsen include an internet café, a souvenir ship and a fitness suite. Outside the ship, guests can relax in one of two Jacuzzis, take a dip in the infinity pool or enjoy glorious views from the Observation deck.
