Ultra-luxury cruise line Silversea has continued to press ahead with its 2021 restart plans and announced details of the resumption of sailings in Alaska, along with new Greenland itineraries from July.
Alaska – from 29 July
The Alaska itineraries will operate round-trip from Seattle, commencing 29 July. Sailing aboard Silver Muse, guests will have the opportunity to visit several of the region’s fabled highlights, including Ketchikan, Juneau and the Sawyer Glacier. Available to book for either 10 or 11 nights, the voyages will also feature various land-based activities, from whale-watching to glacier walks.

Iceland – from 30 July
The 10-day Iceland voyages are brand-new for 2021 and will sail aboard the 382-guest Silver Shadow. Departing across three departure dates from 30 July, the ship will circumnavigate the Land of Fire and Ice from Reykjavik, with calls planned for the island of Heimaey, Grundafjordur and Akureyri, amongst others.
Silversea had initially planned a more extensive Iceland programme for 2021/22; however, the revised itineraries will be ideal for those looking to discover the region’s geological wonders and jaw-dropping areas of natural beauty.

A few months ago, the idea of cruise lines launching new sailings in remote areas such as Iceland seemed unlikely, considering the impact the pandemic has had on the industry. Similarly, Alaska cruises looked unviable and have only been made possible following legislature which permits cruise travel, providing ships do not stop in Canada.
Commenting on the new sailings, Silversea’s President & CEO, Roberto Martinoli, said:
“We proudly continue to lead the ultra-luxury cruise industry’s healthy return to service and commend the leadership of Alaska and Iceland for taking steps to advance the safe resumption of global travel. The return to service is fast gaining momentum, and we’ve seen exceptional demand for travel in Alaska and Iceland. We’re eager to welcome back our guests to unlock unforgettable experiences aboard Silver Muse and Silver Shadow while contributing to the local economies of the incredible communities we visit.”
Guests interested in exploring Alaska or Iceland this summer will be protected by Silversea’s Cruise With Confidence guarantee, which allows for a free of charge cancellation up to 30 days before sailing. In exchange, those choosing to cancel will receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit, valid for two years from the date of issue.
Silversea first announced their return to cruising in April, when they released details of new summer voyages aboard Silver Moon in the Greek Isles. This news was quickly followed by details of Silver Origin’s restart in the Galapagos Islands.
