Enter a land rich with cultural icons and incomparable natural wonders.
The multi-coloured miracle of the Great Barrier Reef, the sun-swept splendour of Sydney Harbour and the soaring majesty of Milford Sound make fitting backdrops for Seabourn Encore’s debut. An astonishing variety of sights await you: towering peaks, steaming geysers and sprawling vineyards, mighty fjords and quaint villages, vivid coral reefs and — yes — koalas, kiwis and kangaroos. Cultured, cosmopolitan Melbourne, Auckland and Wellington well suit Seabourn Encore’s sophistication, while her elegant precision is reflected in the traditional Maori haka ritual. The rustic charm of Oban together with Dunedin’s Scottish heritage and Picton’s majestic coast lay the framework for a magnificent maiden season in one of the most impressive regions on earth.
Australasia Highlights with Seabourn
Every destination on an Australia and New Zealand voyage with Seabourn is a highlight, but there are some that do stand out a little more than others. These are some of our favourites:
Sydney
A cosmopolitan city surrounded by golden beaches, World Heritage sites, incredible national parks and acclaimed wine regions. Sydney had to be at the top of the list. Not only will you have an unforgettable day ashore, you’ll also get to appreciate sailing into one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. Sydney has something on offer for everyone and no matter what you decide to do, you’ll have a day that will create lasting and precious memories.
Hamilton Island, Queensland, Australia
Azure sea, white sand and endless sunshine are the appeal of the Whitsunday Islands off the Queensland Coast. Although there are plenty of activities available, perhaps the most compelling reason people come is simply to be here. Reef tours, sightseeing flights, diving, snorkeling and even golf are options.
Wellington, New Zealand
Wellington is nestled between a magnificent harbor and a natural amphitheatre of forest-clad hills. Its compact size, combined with cultural sophistication, makes it New Zealand’s most inspiring urban destination. Wellington’s cultural crowning jewel is Te Papa, a donation-only museum that celebrates Australasian natural history, science and culture. Exhibits include Maori artifacts, an extensive Pacific Cultures collection and interactive science exhibits. The city’s art scene is flourishing, with numerous galleries and craft markets displaying the work of the country’s top artists and craftspeople.
Milford Sound
Milford Sound is a fjord in the south west of New Zealand’s South Island. Part of the Fjordland National Park and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site, it has been judged one of the world’s top travel destinations in an international survey. Frequently visited by rain, the mountain peaks rising from the waters of Milford Sound are often softened by mist and an air of almost flawless and overpowering mystic calm.
