Discover the ‘White Continent’ with Seabourn in 2014/15
Embarking on a voyage of Antarctica and Patagonia really is a once in a lifetime experience and one that is best enjoyed aboard a purpose-adapted vessel, hosted by a team of destination experts.
In 2014/15 Seabourn Cruises is offering a selection of Polar Region voyages aboard the luxurious Seabourn Quest with each hosted by a world-class 17-person exhibition team. Seabourn’s team is among the largest on any ship bound for Antarctica and with their extensive collective knowledge and expertise of the “White Continent” and expedition travel as a whole, those joining one of four special ‘Ultimate Antarctica & Patagonia’ cruises with Seabourn can be assured of the best experience both onboard and ashore.
The team, which has been handpicked and will be led by Seabourn Expedition Programme Manager and Leader Robin West, comprises naturalists, scientists, cultural and historical experts, and other lecturers. Award-winning nature photographers will offer tips on digital photography to help guests capture the diverse wildlife and remarkable landscapes. From distant sightings onboard to landings ashore. Robin West is a veteran of more than 40 Antarctic voyages and led the expedition team during Seabourn’s first Antarctic season in 2013.
Antarctica is the Earth’s southernmost continent, no one permanently lives there, but up to 5000 people reside throughout the year at various research stations, and of course the occasional expedition vessel sails through. The region offers striking landscapes and abundant wildlife including: penguins, seals and whales. During your voyage, there will be ample opportunities to explore the region as you make a Zodiac landing in Antarctica each day.
Don’t forget to pack properly for your Antarctica expedition voyage! We recommend taking a pair of binoculars, spare camera batteries (the low temperatures can drain the batteries very quickly), extra pairs of gloves and the necessary equipment and accessories to keep your camera lens clean. After all, this region must be captured on film, so you can share its beauty and wildlife with friends and family back at home.
