Silversea Cruises has expanded its 11-ship fleet with the $275 million purchase of Crystal Endeavour.
Crystal Endeavor – to be renamed Silver Endeavour and re-launching in November this year – will become Silversea’s fifth expedition ship.
President and CEO Roberto Martinoli recently spent two days onboard Crystal Endeavor in Gibraltar. He said, “The ship is of a very high standard and is compatible with what we do at Silversea Expeditions.”
“I walked the ship from top to bottom and from bow to stern. It’s a great vessel, very well finished, maybe a little too much, I would say. We’re very happy, and we can’t wait to see it in operation.”
Martinoili has already hinted at some of the changes he plans to make. “She can definitely have more cabins”, he explained. “There are probably four cabins in the casino, but there are opportunities elsewhere. We are waiting to see what the visibility study tells us.”
Silver Endeavour will continue the line’s customary approach to luxury travel, welcoming guests in beautifully-appointed all-suite, all-veranda accommodation.
Onboard, guests can dine at exquisite restaurants, indulge in the spa and visit the two-storied solarium equipped with a swimming pool and whirlpool.
The new vessel will replace Silver Explorer – which will leave the line in November 2023 and begin operating for up-and-coming French cruise line Exploris – and make her way from Antarctica to the Arctic.
Built to PC6 polar class specifications, Silver Endeavour will be perfect for exploring the world’s most isolated icy regions.
Martinoli confirms, “She is a great polar vessel, designed to be in cold water.”
Exploration amenities and state-of-the-art technology will make for an entirely immersive adventure, with an industry-leading number of Zodiacs, an entire fleet of kayaks and a cutting-edge camera system.
Martinoli has announced that the Royal Caribbean Group will protect the deposits of those who were originally booked on Crystal Endeavor. These guests will also be able to re-book with any one of the Group’s global brands – Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises.
