Windstar Cruises will launch its new vessel, Star Seeker, in 2026, setting sail to Alaska and Japan. The cruise line last visited these destinations in 2023 before moving Star Breeze to operate year-round in Tahiti.
Alaska & Japan Itineraries
Star Seeker will navigate Alaska from May to August 2026 with 7-, 10-, and 11-day cruises between Juneau, Seward, and Vancouver, including optional pre- and post-cruise tours to Denali. At the end of August, Star Seeker will head to Japan, starting its popular 10-day Grand Japan cruises between Tokyo and Osaka, and will stay in Japan until November.
In Alaska, Windstar will have expedition leaders on board for their Signature Expeditions, similar to previous deployments. Guests can book excursions like hiking, kayaking, and skiff tours to explore remote areas like Misty Fjords, guided by experts. Onboard presentations will cover Alaska’s rich history, culture, and natural environment.

Being on the water and seeing the topography from that viewpoint brings the grandeur of Alaska into perspective. It’s also quiet and meditative to be our in these wild places. You never know what wildlife you might see.”
Fleet Expansion
In April, Windstar announced the expansion of its fleet with two new vessels, Star Seeker and Star Explorer. These ships will feature 112 suites, accommodating up to 224 passengers, and will be similar to the current Star Class motor yachts. Star Seeker is scheduled for delivery in December 2025, followed by Star Explorer in December 2026.
Details of Star Seeker’s deployments, including routes in Alaska and Japan, are expected to be available online and open for bookings by early August 2024.
