Cunard has three dress codes. Gala Evenings (typically 2-3 per week) call for black tie or formal wear. Smart Attire evenings mean cocktail dresses or jackets. Relaxed applies during the day – though swimwear and gym kit aren’t permitted in restaurants. It’s one of the few lines where dressing up is still part of the experience.

Grills suites cost significantly more than Britannia, but you’re paying for a different voyage – exclusive restaurant, private lounge and terrace, butler service (Queens Grill), and priority everything. For special occasions or guests who value privacy and personal service, it’s worth it. For first-timers wanting to test the water, Britannia is a perfectly good introduction to Cunard.

Cunard’s loyalty programme. After your first voyage, you’re automatically enrolled at Silver level. Tiers progress through Gold, Platinum, and Diamond based on nights sailed. Benefits include onboard credit, priority boarding, exclusive events, and discounts on future bookings. Worth checking your tier before booking – returning guests often qualify for perks.

Accommodation, main restaurant dining, room service, Afternoon Tea, entertainment, and access to pools, gym, and enrichment programmes. Drinks, speciality dining, spa treatments, and gratuities are extra. Cunard offers Signature Packages that bundle drinks, Wi-Fi, and onboard credit at a discount if you prefer a more inclusive approach.

Yes. All four ships have dedicated single staterooms (not just doubles at a supplement), and there’s a solo travellers’ programme with dedicated meetups and hosted dining. The atmosphere suits independent guests – plenty of bars and lounges to settle into, and no pressure to socialise if you’d rather not.

Queen Mary 2 is the flagship – larger, with a planetarium, and the only ship offering regular Transatlantic crossings. Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria are sister ships with a classic country-house feel. Queen Anne is the newest, with a slightly more contemporary design. No. Cunard automatically adds gratuities to your onboard account – currently $16 per person per day for Britannia guests, $18 for Grills. You can adjust this amount at reception if you wish. A 15% service charge is also added to bar purchases.
