Almost everything. Your suite, all dining (including The Grill by Thomas Keller), open bar throughout the day – wine, champagne, spirits, cocktails – plus gratuities and WiFi. On expedition voyages, you also get Zodiac excursions, kayaking, and expert-led landings as part of the fare. Spa treatments and premium excursions cost extra, but day-to-day, there’s very little you’ll need to pay for onboard.

Yes – and they’re exceptional. Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit are purpose-built expedition ships with PC6 ice-class hulls, custom submarines, and a full expedition team of scientists, naturalists, and photographers. They sail to Antarctica, the Arctic, the Kimberley, and other remote regions. You get the same Seabourn service and suites, just with parkas and Zodiacs instead of pool days.

Seabourn is designed for adults – there are no kids’ clubs or dedicated children’s programmes. That said, families with older teenagers do sail, particularly on expedition itineraries where wildlife and adventure keep everyone engaged. Some suites can accommodate three guests or interconnect for more space. If your children are curious travellers who’d rather spot whales than ride a waterslide, it can work well.

Relaxed during the day – resort casual covers it. Evenings shift to elegant casual: think smart trousers and a collared shirt, or a dress. There are no formal nights as such, though some guests enjoy dressing up for special dinners. Nobody’s enforcing rules, but most guests appreciate the elevated atmosphere after dark. Pack a few versatile pieces, and you’ll be fine.

They’re both six-star and all-inclusive, but they have different personalities. Seabourn feels more like a private yacht – slightly smaller ships, a warm social atmosphere, and signature touches like Caviar in the Surf. Silversea leans more into culinary experiences with its S.A.L.T. programme and has a larger expedition fleet. Neither is objectively better – it depends on what matters most to you. Seabourn Quest is smaller and suits guests who prefer a more intimate, classic feel. For the right traveller, absolutely. The fare covers almost everything – drinks, dining, gratuities, WiFi – so you’re not paying extra at every turn. The ships are small enough that service feels personal, and the crew-to-guest ratio is among the best at sea. Compare it to other luxury lines once you account for what’s actually included, and the gap narrows. It’s an investment, but it delivers.
